The Political Action Committee Dallas Friends of Public Education has thrown its support, and money, behind Bruce Parrott for the District 3 seat on the Dallas ISD board of trustees.
Incumbent Leigh Ann Ellis said she wants to return to the board to ensure the continued improvement of academic performance by DISD schools.
Penny Martin Anderly and Beatrice Alba Martinez also seek the District 3 seat.
Bruce Parrott is a retired video producer and the husband of Lois Parrott, former DISD board trustee. He’s a graduate of Bryan Adams High School, a lifelong resident of District 3, and has two children who also graduated from Bryan Adams.
Like the other challengers for the District 3 spot on the board, Parrott was unhappy with the board and with Ellis for voting to extend their terms from three to four years and canceling the May board election.
Trustees later backpedalled after the Texas attorney general said the board trustees were not authorized to extend their terms.
